August 21, 2017, The SPLM- IO deputy spokesman was kidnapped by the same agent of Jieng Council of Elders in Uganda but was spoiled by Uganda. This the same style as they did in KENYA where three SPLM-IO were kidnapped and smuggled into Juba with the collaboration with Dinka government of Juba. Please read the statement below
By Brig.General William Gatjiath Deng Spokesperson for SPLA-(IO) Pagak, GHQs- South Sudan, Monday August 21, 2017
On Friday August 18, 2017, the South Sudan embassy in Uganda and the agents of the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) regime in Juba abducted Col. Paul Gabriel Lam Oyihi, our SPLA (IO) Deputy Military Spokesperson, in Kampala, Uganda.
Upon learning the abduction, the Ugandan police and security agencies quickly intervened and successfully recued Col. Paul Gabriel Lam Oyihi from being smuggled illegally to Juba without the knowledge of the Ugandan authorities.
Indeed, as we have all along been saying, the ethnocentric regime in Juba under the absolute authority and effective control of the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) is a threat not only to the lives of South Sudanese within and outside South Sudan, but also to the security and stability of the neighbouring countries, the region and Horn of Africa.
Having succeeded in abducting and kidnapping our senior officials, including Mr James Gatdet Dak, among others, from Nairobi, Kenya, hence tarnishing the name, image and reputation of the government and people of the Republic of Kenya, the Juba regime has now openly started practicing the same kidnapping and abduction activities inside Uganda to undermine and destabilise Ugandan security, insult the President of the Republic of Uganda, tarnish the good image of Uganda, and depreciate the solidarity and hospitality of the government and people of Uganda as a neighbour and host of more than 1 million South Sudanese.
The other time, the Juba regime attempted to commit mass atrocities in the refugee camps by poisoning water tanks serving thousands of non-Dinka South Sudanese refugees in Northern Uganda.
This time, the same Juba regime is targeting political opponents and the abduction and kidnapping of Col. Paul Gabriel Lam Oyihi has revealed a lot more than meet the eye. This is terrorism by the true meaning of the word and we in the SPLM-SPLA (IO) condemn it very strongly.
As a mass Movement, we would like to take this opportunity to once again most sincerely thank the government and people of Uganda for ensuring and safeguarding the security of all South Sudanese, regardless of their ethnic, religious or political backgrounds, anywhere in Uganda.
In particular, we thank the Ugandan police and security agencies for the urgent and timely intervention in the rescue of Col. Paul Gabriel Lam Oyihi.
